ABOUT THE TEAM
The Napa County Search and Rescue (SAR) Team provides search and rescue services to all areas of Napa County and the surrounding Bay Area counties. The team's mission is to locate and rescue victims in urban areas or wild lands, aircraft accidents, and in natural or man-made disasters. The team is always "mission ready" and available 24 hours a day.
Napa County SAR has 45 members and is administered by the Napa County Sheriff's Department. Napa County SAR is an all volunteer non-profit organization supported through grants and local donations. Members devote countless hours of their time in service of their community. The group is highly dedicated, proven by experience, and motivated by their desire to help others.
All members go through extensive training in search and rescue techniques when they join the unit. Continuous in-service training with mandatory attendance is provided by local experts in their fields of expertise and by opportunities at regional and national SAR trainings. All members are required to maintain current Wilderness First Aid training with Adult and Child CPR.
Availability
The Napa County SAR Team is on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is available for wild land and urban searches, fire and flood evacuations, evidence recovery, and other duties as assigned by the Napa County Sheriff's Department. The Napa County SAR Team also furnishes search teams and search management support to other counties throughout the state as required by the California Mutual Aid Plan.
